Service Description
Reconnect with nature during a beautiful night time hike at Walkers Reserve Barbados’ Eco Market! Families can check in from 5pm for a relaxed hour of lantern-making craft, firefly education, scavenger hunt and shopping at the market. Come early to ensure your child has a chance to complete our awesome lantern craft before we get rolling at 6pm.(There will be many vendors selling food at the Eco Market.) 6 pm: we will gather for a learning session and get ready to head off for the hike just as the sun sets! Dress for an outdoor hike and bring a flashlight or headlamp. (there will be a limited number of flash lights available for a small rental deposit). This hike is suitable for anyone able to do a slow-paced 1-hour hike in the dark, involving a slight incline. A minimum of one parent/guardian per maximum of 4 children must attend the hike with their children/wards. In recognition of Earth Hour, we will discuss light pollution, how it affects wildlife and plants, and the importance of conserving energy all within the theme of our favourite little night time bugs! 🌎 BEFORE the hike, enjoy the market from 3pm to 5pm and join in on our FREE kids corner activities for fun STEM-based activities. These activities are suitable for ages 2-8, but all are welcome to play, adults too! AFTER the hike, join in on our family campfire which will be open from 6 to 8pm for those not attending the hike. S’mores kits will be available for purchase.
